[DE] Luke Stewart und Warren G. Crudup III. glauben an die Macht der Reduktion. Sie begrenzen ihr Setup auf die klassische Rhythmusgruppe des Jazz – Stewart am Bass, Crudup III. am Schlagzeug –, verstehen aber gerade diese Beschränkung als ideale Startrampe für Ausflüge in die vierte Dimension. Den historisch-politischen Hallraum, den das US-Duo schon mit seinem Projektnamen Blacks' Myths eröffnet, füllen Stewart und Crudup III. mit pulsierenden, fließenden Strukturen, in denen sie scheinbar bekannte Formen und Problemstellungen immer wieder unvorhersehbar drehen und wenden. So lange, bis die Mythen der Geschichte widerhallen und zugleich eine Idee von Futurismus anklingt.
[EN] Luke Stewart and Warren G. Crudup III believe in the power of reduction. They have restricted their setup to the classic jazz rhythm section – Stewart on the bass, Crudup III on the drums – and yet they see this restriction as the perfect launch pad for journeys into the fourth dimension. Stewart and Crudup III take the historic and political echo chamber that they opened up with the name of their project – Blacks’ Myths – and fill it with pulsating, flowing structures in which they continuously twist and turn seemingly well-known shapes and approaches into something new and unexpected. Until the myths of history reverberate and, at the same time, a concept of futurism rings out.
