[DE] Die Quellen der Inspiration anzapfen, Entwicklungslinien aufzeigen, physisch spürbar machen, wo was herkommt – und vor allem, wo es noch hin kann: Thomas Ankersmit tut genau das mit seiner Hommage auf den Serge Modular Synthesizer. Vor 50 Jahren wurde das Instrument von Serge Tcherepnin entwickelt. Ohne Klaviatur, ohne Gebrauchsanweisung, als unmittelbare Aufforderung zu Interaktion und Experiment. Ankersmit, der den Serge Modular auf Empfehlung von Komponistin Maryanne Amacher seit über 15 Jahren als sein Hauptinstrument verwendet, hat zum Jubiläum neue Musik für diese Kiste der unendlichen Wunder und Überraschungen konzipiert. Zwischen Total-Abstraktion und fast filmischen Atmosphären will er einmal mehr die Limits der Oszillatoren testen und die Möglichkeiten der eigenen Imagination erweitern.
[EN] Tapping into the wellspring of creativity, illustrating lines of development, physically rendering where something comes from – and, most importantly, where it still can go: Thomas Ankersmit does exactly this with his homage to the Serge Modular synthesizer. The instrument was developed by Serge Tcherepnin 50 years ago. No keys, no instruction manual – a direct invitation to interact and experiment. To celebrate this anniversary, Ankersmit, who has used the Serge Modular as his primary instrument for more than 15 years on the recommendation of composer Maryanne Amacher, has created new music for this box of endless wonders and surprises. Between total abstraction and almost cinematic atmospheres, Ankersmit once again wants to test the limits of the oscillators and expand the possibilities of our own imaginations.
